aerial view of a waste biofuel facilityA renewable energy client and its subsidiary are advancing a 5-year, 20-unit development cluster project that will deploy their proprietary technology to convert a significant portion of the 15 million tons of animal and agricultural waste produced annually by North Carolina swine betvictorfarms into environmentally sustainable, economically viable, renewable energy. Each unit is expected to be capable of processing up to 15 tons per day of animal and agricultural feedstock into varying amounts of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), bio-oil, and bio-char, creating additional benefits through carbon sequestration. The client is also currently expanding its Landfill Gas-to-RNG facility portfolio.

The project challenges include the need to collect, transport, and dewater hog waste for introduction into the client’s proprietary endothermic anaerobic conversion process, provide for liquids and solids separation, storage, and transport, and provide for raw gas cleanup to pipeline quality for injection.

Nexus is providing the technical and project development expertise needed to further define the project scope and develop equipment and contract parameters. Our process and facility knowledge, flexibility, and project controls experience are critical contributions to the client’s AG and Landfill gas project development teams. The Nexus Team has provided the following initial activities supporting these projects:

  • Initial System Analysis & Modeling
  • Test Facility Instrumentation Additions
  • Conceptual PFD and Site Layout Development
  • Execution Plan and Basis of Design Input
  • 20MVA Substation Planning
  • EPC Project Scheduling
  • Class 5 Level Cost Estimate
